Men's Soccer Falls To Holy Family, 4-1

PHILADELPHIA-The Post University men's soccer team's season came to an end on Monday afternoon, in the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Championships, falling to Holy Family, 4-1 at the Campus Center Field.

The Eagles, end the season with a 4-14-1 overall record and a 3-5-1 mark in the CACC, earning a trip to the playoffs for the fourth time in as many years.

With the win, Holy Family advances to the CACC semifinals on Wednesday against the number-one seed Dominican College at Felician College.

The Tigers (13-7-1) struck early with a goal at the 1:11 mark, as Matt Kocher's header off a corner kick, put Holy Family up 1-0. It would remain that way until the 34th minute, when Ed Szambelak placed a shot from 30 yards out, into the right side of the goal, to put the Tigers up 2-0.

The Eagles has several chances to put one it, but the Holy Family keeper Benjamin Roller made six of his 10 saves on the afternoon in the opening 45 minutes of play. He was also aided by a shot that caromed off the post.

Kocher added his second goal of the game, just 38 seconds into the second half, with a long shot off a free kick by Tim Dugan.

Post was finally able to put one on the board in the 66th minute, when sophomore Abby Walker's header in front of the net off a feed from sophomore Johan Pineda. It was Walker's second goal of the season, and third of his career.

Jason Lopez closed the books on the scoring with a goal in the 84th minute.

Holy Family held a slight 17-16 edge in shots, but the Eagles out-shot the Tigers 7-6 in the second half.

Senior Marco Gaspar had four saves in net for the Eagles.
