October 17, 2007

WATERBURY, Conn.-Nyack scored three goals in the second half, to defeat the Post University men's soccer team, 4-0, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match at LaMoy Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Nyack's (5-8-2, 2-5 CACC) Bobby Caskran fired a shot into the lower left hand side of the goal, in the eighth minute, to put the Warriors on the board. Joel Bicknell assisted on the goal.

Baba Fatoba made it 2-0 in favor of Nyack, in the 63rd minute of play, taking a breakaway and placing it into the top right hand corner for the goal.

With about 20 minutes left, the Eagles apparently cut the lead to 2-1, with a shot from the goal line extended by senior Raleigh Woodburn, which hit the top of the cross bar, and caromed into the back of the goal. But it was disallowed after Woodburn stepped out of bounds.

Bicknell scored in the 77th minute, and Tim Conway took a feed from Erik Salveson and scored in the 89th minute of play.

Nyack held an 11-10 edge in shots, and a 6-1 margin in corner kicks.

Post (4-11, 3-4 CACC) keeper junior Chris Ouellette made his first start of the season, and first since his freshman season, stopping five shots on the afternoon

The Eagles return to action on Saturday afternoon, with a CACC match against Wilmington College. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. following Senior Day ceremonies.
