Men's SoccerMen's Soccer Announces 2007 Slate June 11, 2007 WATERBURY, Conn.-Post University men's soccer Head Coach Ted Haley announced the 2007 schedule this afternoon. The Eagles will face three teams who finished the season ranked nationally in Division II, as well as challenging tests from the New England Region and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). The Eagles open the season at the Southern Connecticut State Invitational, taking on two of the top-10 teams in Division II, in the host Owls, on August 24, and Franklin Pierce on August 26. SCSU finished last season ranked number-six in Division II with a 17-3-3 overall record, while reaching the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Championships. Franklin Pierce finished the season with a 17-2-3 overall record, while finishing the year ranked ninth nationally in Division II. Post opens the home portion of its schedule on September 1, with a non-conference match up with Molloy College. Last season, the Eagles were unbeaten in nine of their 11 matches at LaMoy Field, recording a 6-2-3 mark at home. The Eagles will then travel to St. Thomas Aquinas on September 5, before opening CACC play at Holy Family on September 8. Post was 4-1-3 in conference play a year ago, and reached the finals of the CACC Championships, before falling 1-0, to Dominican, who finished the season ranked 25th nationally. Post will return home to face in-state rival the University of New Haven on September 11, and the rest of the home schedule continues against the University of Bridgeport (Sept. 20), Chestnut Hill (Sept. 22), Dominican (Sept. 29), Felician (Oct. 4), Bentley (Oct. 8), Nyack (Oct. 17), and Wilmington (Oct. 20). The Eagles will also take part in another in-season tournament, as they travel to the Merrimack College tournament the weekend of Sept. 15-16. Post squares off with the host school on the 15th, and Stonehill College on the 16th. Post will also travel to Caldwell (Sept. 25), Goldey-Beacom (Oct. 6), Bloomfield (Oct. 11), and Assumption (Oct. 24). The CACC Championships begin on October 29 with first-round match ups at campus sites. The semi-finals and finals and finals will take place at Felician College, November 1-3. Haley will enter his third season at the helm of the men's
soccer program, and guided the Eagles to a 9-7-5 overall record
last season. Post finished the 2006 campaign ranked 10th
in the final NSCAA/adidas New England Region poll.
