Men's SoccerMen's Soccer Edged 1-0, In CACC Championship Match October 29, 2006 RUTHERFORD, N.J.-The Post University men's soccer team fell just short in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Championship match, falling 1-0 to Dominican College on a cold and windy Sunday afternoon at Tryon Field. The loss drops the Eagles to 9-7-5 overall, and they will await word on a possible ECAC Tournament bid. Dominican improves to 12-3-3 overall and captures its third CACC Championship in a row, and will await word on its status for the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championships. Both teams were evenly matched until the 70th minute when Joseph Ruesgen of Dominican fed Jhonny Arteaga, whose bicycle kick from the left of the penalty box found Ryan Clancy, who placed a shot into the right side of the net. The Eagles had a few late chances that were unable to find its mark, and Dominican controlled the second half, as it held a 13-7 edge in shots in the second stanza of the Eagles. For the match, the Chargers enjoyed a 19-12 margin. Sophomore Michael Aeschliman (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) made four saves in goal for the Eagles, including three in the first half to keep the match scoreless. Dominican's Robert Kelly notched three saves to earn the win. Post enjoyed a 6-4 edge in corner kicks, with all of them taken in the second half. The Eagles were whistled for 21 fouls, while Dominican was called for 12. Each team was called offsides once in the match. Aeschliman along with senior Kafoumba Cisse (Abidjan, Ivory Coast/Gateway C.C.), and junior Maurice Johnson (Bronx, N.Y./Bryant & Stratton) were named to the CACC All-Tournament Team. The field for the 2006 ECAC Men's Soccer Championships will be announced on Monday, Nov. 6.
