Men's SoccerWalker Lifts Men's Soccer Past Goldey-Beacom In Extra Session September 30, 2006 WATERBURY, Conn.-Freshman Abeschel Walker (Kingston, Jamaica/Windsor (Conn.) scored in the 97th minute to give the Post University men's soccer team a 1-0 win over Goldey-Beacom, Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field. With the win, the Eagles improve to 5-4-2 overall and 4-1 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) while GBC falls to 3-5-1 overall and 1-3 in the CACC. Off a corner kick, junior Patrick Meyer (Islip, N.Y./Islip) tried a bicycle kick, but the GBC keeper stopped the shot, and the rebound bounced off and went right to the foot of Walker who was standing right in front of the goal. The Eagles had several good looks at the goal, including a shot by Walker that went just high, after he got free in the box, while 22 minutes left in the second half. With time running out in regulation, sophomore Daniel Martins (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) came down the right sideline, and found senior Kafoumba Cisse (Abidjan, Ivory Coast/Gateway C.C.) who riffled a shot that went just wide as time expired. The Eagles outshot their opponent 30-9, including a 15-7 edge in the second half, and a 2-0 edge in the extra session. Goldey-Beacom committed 19 fouls, while Post was whistled for 12. GBC held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks. Sophomore Dan Nadel (Farmington, Conn./Farmington) recorded five saves to earn his sixth shutout of the season. Post returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 3 when Felician College
comes to LaMoy Field for a CACC match. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
