Mike Donnelly enters his fifth season as head coach of the Post University men's basketball program. Since joining the Eagles in 2003, Post has appeared in three of the last four Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Championships, and has captured at least a share of two CACC Regular Season Championships, including this past season.

Donnelly garnered CACC Coach of the Year honors in the 2006-07, after guiding the Eagles to a 17-12 overall record and a 14-6 mark in the CACC. Before the season began, the Eagles were picked to finish eighth in the preseason coaches poll. Post also received its first-ever Regional ranking on February 7, 2007.

Entering the 2007-08 season, the Eagles hold the second-longest home court winning streak in the Northeast Region, at 13 games. In the last two seasons, the Eagles have won 19 of the last 24 games in the friendly confines of the Drubner Center.

He led the 2003-04 squad; to a CACC Regular Season Championship with a 20-11 overall record and a 16-4 conference mark. The team also reached the CACC Championship game, and the ECAC Division II Championship Game.

As the Eagle mentor he has guided Post to a 46-36 record in conference play, and the team has improved its overall record each year, since the 2004-05 campaign.

Before becoming head coach of the Eagles, Donnelly was the head boy's basketball coach at Notre Dame High School, in Fairfield, Conn., in 2002-03. He guided the Lancers to a 17-6 overall record, and a berth in the State Championships tournament, turning around a program that was 10-12 the year before.

In the 2001-02 season, he was the boy's basketball coach at Brookfield High School.

In 1999, Donnelly joined the coaching staff at Post University, under former Head Coach Tom Curle. He was responsible for all scouting reports, and assisted with game preparation, practice planning, and video exchange. He also recruited the program's first-ever NCAA Division II first-team All-American, Ron Christy, who is currently playing professionally in Saudi Arabia.

As a player, Donnelly began his collegiate career at Central Connecticut State University, where he was a starting guard for the Blue Devils from 1993-95. As a sophomore, he was named captain, and was named All-East Coast honorable mention by Eastern Basketball in 1994.

He transferred to Sacred Heart University following his sophomore season, and was a starting guard for longtime Head Coach Dave Bike. He graduated in 1997 with a degree in history, and was selected to the Honor's Court by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, for academic achievement.

In high school, Donnelly was a four-year member of the boy's basketball team at St. Joseph's High School, in Trumbull, Conn. As a junior and senior, Donnelly helped the team captured back-to-back State Championships, in the 1992 and 1993 seasons. He was also the captain of the 1993 squad.

In addition to his basketball responsibilities, Donnelly is also the Athletic Department's Academic Coordinator, where he is responsible for monitoring the academic progress for each of the 12 intercollegiate athletic programs at Post University.

Donnelly resides in Waterbury, Conn. with his wife Jill and daughters Kara, 9, and Payten, who was born on December 3, 2007 .

Assistant Coaches:

Rick Brown is in his fourth season as an assistant coach on Mike Donnelly's coaching staff. Brown is involved in all facets of the men's basketball program, from practice and game preparation and recruiting.

He is an avid New York Jets fan, and resides in Naugatuck, Conn. with his wife Danielle and three children Christian, 12, Richie, 10, and Jacquelyn, 4.

JR Fredette is entering his fourth season at Post University. Fredette is also the head coach of the sub-varsity men's basketball program, in addition to his assistant coaching duties on the varsity team.

He resides in Stratford, Conn., and played his collegiate basketball at Mount Ida College.

Latef Roberts joins the men's basketball staff in the 2007-08 campaign. He is a 1997 graduate of the University of Findlay in Ohio. Prior to joining the men's basketball program he was involved with his AAU program Educating Student-Athletes First (ESAF).

Roberts and his wife Tushemia reside in New Haven with their two daughters Lyric and Tori

Marques Brown begins his first full season as a student assistant on Mike Donnelly's staff. He played a significant role in the backcourt for the Eagles in 2004-05, appearing in 27 games, while reaching double-digit scoring efforts in five games. He averaged 5.1 points per game, and 2.2 caroms per contest.
