Men's BasketballMen's Basketball Summer Notebook August 22, 2007 WATERBURY, Conn.-The Post University men's basketball team had a very successful 2006-07 season, and as the new academic year is about to begin at Post, the team will soon begin preparations for the upcoming season with pre-season conditioning, before the start of practice on October 15. Below are a few notes to preview the 2007-08 campaign. **Last season, the Eagles finished with a perfect 13-0 record at the Drubner Center ... The homecourt winning streak is the second longest in the Northeast Region, behind Bentley College with 19. **The Eagles are an experienced bunch, as they return 11 letter winners and four players in the starting lineup ... In addition, Post will have seven of its eight leading scorers from a year ago back in the fold. **Rising senior forward Arthur Robertson enters the season needing only 44 points to reach the 1,000-point plateau ... He also needs 31 rebounds for 600 in his collegiate career ... Robertson was a third-team All-CACC Selection a year ago, and garnered two CACC Player of the Week honors and an ECAC Player of the Week award. **In the final game of the season against USP in the semifinals of the CACC Tournament, rising senior Peter Lawal went over the 700-point mark and the 500-rebound mark with eight points and five rebounds. **From January 9-27 the Eagles set a school-record for consecutive victories with eight wins ... In that span the Eagles averaged 75.4 points per game and 38.8 rebounds a game. **Post won three games in a row, all by one point; from January 9-16 ... The Eagles beat Goldey-Beacom 59-58, Wilmington 63-62, and Bloomfield 96-95. **Head Coach Mike Donnelly was named CACC Coach of the Year after guiding the Eagles to 17-12 overall record and a share of the CACC Regular Season Championship with a 14-6 conference mark ... In 2005-06, the Eagles were 11-17 overall and 10-12 in the CACC. **Post finished 22nd in the final NCAA Division II statistical rankings for blocked shots with 4.3 per game ... Rising junior Jessie Iyalekhue was ranked 70th with 1.5 blocks a contest ... In addition, the Eagles were ranked 40th with a plus-4.3 rebounding margin, and 50th in field goal percentage defense, giving up 42.1 percent from the floor ... Iyalekhue, led the Eagles with 40 blocks on the season, and upped his career total to 52 in two seasons in the Green and White. **With the addition of Chestnut Hill to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), has been divided into two divisions North and South ... Each team will play other conference members at least once during the regular season, while playing home-and-home series with other members of their respective divisions ... Here are the breakdowns of the North and South Divisions ... North: Bloomfield, Caldwell, Dominican, Felician, Nyack, and Post ... South: Holy Family, USP, Philadelphia, Goldey-Beacon, Chestnut Hill, and Wilmington. **Post opens the 2007-08 season on Thursday, Nov. 15 with a
non-conference contest at Merrimack College.
