March 13, 2008

WATERBURY, Conn.-The Post University men's basketball team will travel to St. Vincent College, for the 2008 ECAC Division II Men's Basketball Championship Saturday evening at the Robert S. Carey Student Center, in Latrobe, Pa. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.

"We are very pleased to be playing in the ECAC Division II post-season tournament, and we are looking forward to playing at St. Vincent College," Post University Head Coach Mike Donnelly said. "Playing for a championship is always special, and we know that this is a great opportunity for our basketball program to win our first ever post-season game."

The game will be available on the internet at http://www.redzonemedia.com/, and will be carried live the Latrobe area on WCNS-AM 1480. For ticket information or for directions, please contact the SVC Athletic Office at (724) 805-2111.

"St. Vincent is a very good basketball team and they have been tremendous at home this year. We certainly face a difficult challenge, but we will be ready to give the best effort possible,"

The Eagles will head to the training camp site of the Pittsburgh Steelers, with a 14-14 overall record, and were the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division Champions with a 10-6 CACC record. Post was upset by Bloomfield, 90-85 in double-overtime in the quarterfinals of the CACC Championships.

Post is led by first-team All-CACC selection, senior Arthur Robertson, with 16.7 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per contest. Junior forward AJ Reitter is chipping in with 15 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per contest. Senior Peter Lawal is averaging 12.7 points per game and 6.6 caroms per contest.

Lawal was a third-team All-CACC choice, while Reitter earned CACC honorable mention for the second year in a row. In addition, Reitter will be looking to join the 1,000-point club at Post on Saturday evening. He needs only 14 points, to join Robertson and Lawal, who reached the milestone earlier this season.

Freshman point guard Garvin McAlister is coming off a stellar CACC Championship debut, as he had 20 points, while knocking down a career-high six three-pointers against Bloomfield. He also dished out five assists, and had three steals and a block in 46 minutes.

St. Vincent is 21-4 on the season, and will be looking to complete an undefeated season at home. The Bearcats are 12-0 at home this season.

SVC has been idle since falling to Thomas Moore College on February 23, to snap a 13-game winning streak. The Bearcats are a provisional NCAA Division III team, after competing at the NAIA Division II level.

Ian McCollough leads the team with 17.8 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per contest. Joey Bulter is averaging 17 points 5.0 rebounds and 4.9 assists this season for the Bearcats.
