Men's BasketballMen's Basketball Returns To Hardwood After Holiday Break December 27, 2007 WATERBURY, Conn.-After taking a short break for the holidays, the Post University men's basketball team returns to the court, for its third in-season tournament of the year, at the Bryant University Holiday Classic. The Eagles will face host Bulldogs and Assumption College, December 28 and 29. Fans will be able to watch and listen to the Bryant game on the 28th, by logging onto the following websites. Tip-off for the Post-Bryant game is slated for 5 p.m.; while the Post-Assumption game will tip at 5 p.m. Fans will also be able to track both games live through Bryant sports information's live stats feature at http://livestats.prestosports.com/bryant. The Eagles enter the tournament, snapping a six-game losing streak against the University of Bridgeport, 62-58, on December 19. It was the first win against the Purple Knights since a 77-75 win in the 2000-01 campaign. Post was led by senior swingman Arthur Robertson (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Beach Channel) who had a game-high 24 points while grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out three assists. Senior forward Peter Lawal (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale) chipped in with 10 points and four rebounds. In addition to the win over their Nutmeg State rival, two Eagles reached scoring milestones in the game. Junior forward AJ Reitter (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) netted his 700th point with a lay-up with 3:30 left in the second half. Junior center Jesse Iyalekhue (Bronx, N.Y./Columbus) recorded his 500th point with 5:47 left in the first half. The Eagles have three scorers averaging double figures as Robertson leads the team and is sixth in the CACC with 16.4 points per game. He is also second on the team and ninth in the conference in rebounding with 7.0 rebounds per game. Reitter is second on the team and eighth in the CACC in scoring with 15.4 points per game, while Lawal is pouring in 10.8 points per game. Bryant enters Friday's game with a 5-5 overall record. The Bulldogs are coming off a 51-50 win on the road against Adelphi in their last outing on December 21. Jon Ezeokoli led the Bulldogs with 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Cecil Gresham had nine points and Jerrann Wright added eight in the win. Ezeokoli is Bryant's leading scorer averaging 14.9 points per game; he is also second on the team with 6.0 rebounds per contest. Chris Birrell is second on the team with 10.7 points per game. This will be the second meeting of the season between the two schools as Bryant defeated the Eagles 72-60 in the Purple Knight Classic on November 18. Bryant had four scorers in double figures, while the Eagles were led by Reitter and Robertson who had 15 points and 13 points respectively. Assumption enters the tournament with an 8-3 overall record, and is winners of three straight, including a 78-68 win over Queens on December 20. The Greyhounds had five scorers in double figures led by Greg Twomey with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Patrick Shea had 10 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Corey Diethorn leads the team with 14.6 points per game, while Twomey is second on the team with 13.4 points per game. Courtland Bluford is third with 10.7 points an outing. The two teams have not faced each other since an 81-74 win by the Greyhounds on Dec. 28, 2003. This weekend's tournament is the last games of the 2007 calendar
year for the Eagles, as they will return to the hardwood on
Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at Goldey-Beacom College for a CACC tilt.
