Men's BasketballRobertson's 24 Points Lifts Men's Basketball Past Bridgeport, 62-58 December 19, 2007 BRIDGEPORT, Conn.-Senior swingman Arthur Robertson (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Beach Channel) poured in a game-high 24 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds to lead the Post University men's basketball team to a 62-58 victory against the University of Bridgeport, in the second-round of the ECAC Division II Holiday Classic, Wednesday evening. It was the seventh double-digit effort and third 20-point outing of the season for the senior. He scored 16 points in the second half, connecting on 5-of-9 from the field with a pair of treys in the second stanza. Senior forward Peter Lawal (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale) was the only other Eagle (5-4, 2-0 CACC) to score double figures as he had 10 points, leaving him one shy of 800 for his career. Lawal was perfect from the free throw line, and grabbed four rebounds. Junior forward AJ Reitter (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) recorded his 700th career-point with a layup with 3:30 left in the second half. He also grabbed four rebounds, dished out two assists, and had a block and a steal. Reitter was joined in the career milestone department, by junior center Jesse Iyalekhue (Bronx, N.Y./Columbus) who scored his 500th career point with a jumper at the 5:47 mark of the opening period. Iyalekhue finished the evening with nine points, connecting on 4-of-7 from the floor, while grabbing seven rebounds. Freshman Garvin McAlister (Norwich, Conn./N.F.A.) earned his first career-start and finished with a season-high six points, while dishing out four assists without committing a turnover and three steals in 34 minutes. The Eagles slightly out shot the Purple Knights (3-5) 40.7 percent (22-54) to 40.4 percent (23-57) from the field. Post forced the Purple Knights into 19 turnovers, with 10 steals, which led to 21 points. The Eagles also had a 26-22 edge in points in the paint. Bridgeport held a slight 36-35 margin in rebounds, and both teams grabbed 11 offensive caroms. The Purple Knights were led by Mantas Armonas who had 15 points to lead three players in double digits. Teairez Stennis chipped in 12 points, while Quentin Martin added 10. Lex James grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. Post returns to the hardwood on Friday, Dec. 28, as it will face Bryant University for the second time this season in the first-round of the Bryant Holiday Classic. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. in Smithfield, R.I. The Eagles will face Assumption the following day. Notes: It was the first win for the Eagles
