Men's BasketballMen's Basketball Readies For ECAC Division II Holiday Classic December 17, 2007 WATERBURY, Conn.-The Post University men's basketball team closes out the first semester on Tuesday and Wednesday when it travels to the ECAC Division II Holiday Classic at the University of Bridgeport's Harvey Hubble Gym. The Eagle Sports Network will carry the games live on both days at http://www.posteagles.com/. Joe Coss (play-by-play) will have the action beginning at 6:35 p.m., with the Nike Pre-game Show. Fans can access the games by clicking the Listen Live logo on the lower left-hand corner of the website. In addition, the ECAC will be video webcasting each game of the ECAC Division II Championships at the following link http://www.ecacsports.com/sports/winter/mbkb/media/index. The Eagles have won three in a row, in part to the efforts of senior swingman Arthur Robertson (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Beach Channel). He was named the ECAC Division II Player of the Week, after guiding the Eagles to a 93-86 win over Pace University, and a 55-48 win over University of the Sciences. Robertson averaged 21.5 points, 9.0 rebound, and 5.5 assists, in both games. In the victory over Pace, he poured in a career-high 32 points, controlled 13 caroms, and dished out eight assists. He is also one of the most prolific free throw shooters in the conference, connecting on 79.5 percent (35-44) of his charity stripe tosses. The Far Rockaway native has scored double digits in six of the seven games for the Eagles, and dating back to last year, has scored 10 or more points in 17-of-19 games. Post is also getting contributions from junior forward AJ Reitter (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) who is second on the team in scoring with 16.1 points per game. In the win over Pace, Reitter netted 26 points while grabbing six rebounds, dishing out four assists, blocking three shots, and recording three steals. He enters the Holiday Classic needing 20 points for 700 in his career. Senior forward Peter Lawal (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale) leads the team with 7.4 rebounds per game. In seven games for the Eagles he has pulled down 52 rebounds, including 21 on the offensive glass. For his career, Lawal has grabbed 554 rebounds, for a 6.4 per game average. He is also fourth on the team in scoring with 9.4 points per game. Concordia, the first opponent for the Eagles at the Holiday Classic, has won three of its last four games including a 65-63 win at Dowling on December 14. The Clippers are 3-4 overall and 3-2 in the East Coast Conference (ECC). Richard Fields led the Clippers against Dowling with 22 points, while Lamont Wilson chipped in with 14 points and nine rebounds. Fields leads the team with 15.7 points per game, while Torrence McGill is second on the team with 11.6 ppg. William Eason is pulling down 6.7 caroms per game for the Clippers, and Kenny Gaskins III is dishing out 4.0 assists a game. Bridgeport will face St. Anselm in the other game on Tuesday, and enters the tournament with a 3-3 overall record and a 2-2 ECC mark. The Purple Knights have been idle since a 67-58 loss to Molloy College on December 8. In that game, the Purple Knights were led by Lex James who had 12 points, while Teairez Stennis and Anthony Davis chipped in with 10. Stennis also grabbed 10 rebounds for the double-double. The Knights have three scorers in double-figures led by Cornell Littlejohn who is averaging 14.0 ppg. Stennis is second on the team with 11.3 ppg, and Quentin Martin is adding 10.2 ppg. Martin also leads the team with 8.5 rebounds an outing and Omer Haim is dishing out 4.2 assists a game. Following the ECAC Division II Holiday Classic the Eagles will travel to the Bryant University Holiday Classic December 28-29. Post will face the host Bulldogs on December 29 for the second meeting of the season between the two schools. Bryant defeated the Eagles 72-60 in the Purple Knight Classic on November 18. In the second round Post will square off with Assumption College.
