Men's Basketball Listed Several Times In CACC Record Book

NEW HAVEN, Conn.-The Post University men's basketball program is represented well, as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) released the updated single-season record book, spanning the NCAA Division II era on Friday afternoon. The men's basketball team is scattered throughout the record book, in both individual and team categories.

Former player Ron Christy was listed second on the points per game list with 27.2 during the 2002-03 campaign. He also averaged 26.7 points in the 2003-04 season to finish third on the list as well. Christy is also the second- and third-best total points with 827 in 2003-04, and 790 in 2002-03.

Current Eagle junior center Jesse Iyalekhue (Bronx, N.Y./Columbus) is 10th on the total blocks list with 40 during the 2006-07 season.

Lauriston Beech is fifth on the rebounds per game list with 10.3 in 2003-04, and grabbed 308 caroms to finish third on the total rebounds list.

Terence Wilkins averaged 6.2 assist, dishing out 193 helpers to finish second on the total assists, and assists per game lists. He also recorded the third-best assist/turnover ratio in 2003-04 with a 2.10 rating.

The 2003-04 squad averaged the single-season CACC record for points per game with 90.3 the 2002-03 team averaged 78.0 ppg, for a tie for eighth, while the 2004-05 team rounded out the top-10 with 77.0 ppg.

The 2003-04 team finished with the best scoring margin in the conference with a +6.4 margin, while the 2002-03 team recorded a +6.1 margin.

The 2002-03 team finished tied for sixth in field goal percentage, shooting 47.0 percent from the field., and the 2002-03 team topped the field goal percentage list, as opposing teams shot 40.1 percent from the field against the Eagles. Last year's team finished seventh, as the opposition shot 42.1 percent.

The 2002-03 team clamped down against teams from three-point range, allowing 27.4 percent from behind the three-point arc. The 2003-04 team finished seventh allowing team to shoot 32.0 percent from distance.

In the rebounding margin category, the Eagles finished in five of the 10 spots, including the +10.9 in 2002-03, the 2003-04 team was second with +7.8, while the 2005-06 was fourth with +5.4. the 2006-07 team was seventh with a +4.3, while the 2004-05 team had a +3.3 to finish 10th.

The 2003-04 team average 19.70 assists per game in 2003-04 to top the list, while the 2002-03 squad finished seventh with 17.03 assists per game.

The 2006-07 team finished seventh in three-pointers per game with 7.10, while the 2003-04 team with eighth with 6.97 treys per game.

Last year, the Eagles recorded the best block shot average with 4.34 rejections per game, and the 2005-06 team with ninth with 3.54 bpg.

The 2003-04 team finished with the best offensive rebound average with 18.13 per game, while the 2004-05 team was second with 17.56, and the 2002-03 team was third with 15.83. the 2005-06 team rounded out the top-10 with 14.0.

The men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday afternoon, as it welcomes University of the Sciences in Philadelphia to the Drubner Center. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m., following the Post-USP women's game at 1 p.m.
