Robertson Records 1000th Point, In Loss To C.W. Post

WATERBURY, Conn.-Senior swingman Arthur Robertson (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Beach Channel) recorded his 1,000th collegiate point, with a driving lay-up with 6:18 left in the second half, in a 72-71 loss to C.W. Post, Tuesday evening in the Drubner Center.

Robertson needed three points to reach the 1,000-point plateau and went over the mark in the second half, putting the Eagles (1-3) up 62-59. The Far Rockaway native finished the evening with nine points to give him 1,006 for his career. He is also four rebounds shy of 600 in his career.

Junior AJ Reitter (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) scored 15 of his team-high 17 points in the first half, connecting on 5-of-8 from the field in the first 20 minutes of play. He also had three treys.

In a see-saw second half, the Pioneers (2-0) took the lead for good, with a three-pointer from Kevin Span with eight seconds remaining in the game.

Post then brought the ball across half court and called timeout, to set up an inbounds play for junior center Jesse Iyalekhue (Bronx, N.Y./Columbus), he was fouled and went to the free throw line, but couldn't find the mark, and the game ended at 72-71.

Post came out in the first half, taking a 17-8 lead with 12:09 left until halftime, capped by a dunk from sophomore Omar Robinson (Brooklyn, N.Y./Canarsie). The Pioneers cut the lead to 17-12 at the 10:32 mark thanks to a jumper from Gilbert Montalvo. But over the next few minutes, the Eagles were able to extend their lead to 36-23 with 5:27 remaining thanks to a jumper from junior James Lee (Montreal, Quebec, Canada/Vanier Prep).

After taking a 44-34 lead into the locker room at halftime, the Eagles struggled in the second half, as the Pioneers went on a 15-2 run to take a 52-50 lead with a three-pointer from Montalvo.

The Pioneers led 54-50, with 12:16 left, before both teams traded the lead and tied the game five times.

Reitter led three Eagles in double-digits as senior forward Peter Lawal (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale) had 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting. He also had eight rebounds and three blocks.

Robinson had 10 points on 4-of-8 from the field, while knocking down a pair of treys. Robertson had nine points, while Lee added eight. Iyalekhue had four blocks for the fourth time in his career to go along with five points and eight rebounds.

Montalvo led C.W. Post with 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while Spann had 17 and Mateusz Sowa chipped in with 10.

Post now heads into the Thanksgiving break, wrapping up a four-game in six-day stretch. The Eagles will return to the hardwood on Saturday, Dec. 1, as they open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play at Nyack tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.

Notes: The loss snaps the Eagles 13-game home court winning streak, as the last home loss came on February 21, 2006 against Holy Family University ... Tonight's game marked the debut for the Eagle Sports Network, as the majority of the home games this season will be audio webcast on http://www.posteagles.com/ ... The Eagles recorded 10 blocks this evening, which is the most in the last two years, last season the Eagles recorded nine on three occasions, with the last coming against USP on February 3, 2007 ... AJ Reitter has scored double figures in each of the first four games of the season, and dating back to last season, he has scored double-digits in nine of the last 11 games ... Reitter leads the team in scoring with 18.8 points per game.
