Men's Basketball Set For Drubner Debut On Tuesday

WATERBURY, Conn.-The Post University men's basketball team will open the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday evening, with a non-conference contest against C.W. Post University. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m., following the Post women's basketball game against N.Y.I.T at 5 p.m.

The Eagle Sports Network will carry both games live on http://www.posteagles.com/. Joe Coss (play-by-play) will call the action. Fans can click on the Stretch Internet Listen Live logo on the lower left hand corner of the website to listen to the game for free.

Post will look to rebound, after falling to Bryant University, 72-60, in the second round of the Purple Knight Classic at the University of Bridgeport on Sunday afternoon. Post recorded a 68-45 win over American International in the first round, thanks in large part to a 14-4 spurt to start the second half.

Junior AJ Reitter (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) led the Eagles with a team-high 15 points. Through three games this season, the junior forward is averaging 19.3 points per game, which is good for fourth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). He opened the season, last week at Merrimack, with a career-high 29 points.

Senior Arthur Robertson (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Beach Channel) is second on the team in scoring with 13.7 points per game, and leads the Eagles with 8.0 rebounds per contest, good for fourth in the CACC. The senior swingman is also three points shy of 1,000 for his career.

Junior Jesse Iyalekhue (Bronx, N.Y./Columbus) is third on the team with 8.7 points per game, and is second on the team and tied for sixth in the conference with 7.0 rebounds per outing.

C.W. Post comes to town with a 1-0 record on the young season, after defeating Lock Haven 91-58 last Saturday. Jonathan Schmidt led all players with 22 points, to lead four Pioneers in double-digits.

The Pioneers opened the game with a 9-0 run, and built a lead to as much as 22 points late in the first half. They connected on 49.3 percent from the field, including 53.1 percent in the second half.

C.W. Post was picked to finish third in the East Coast Conference (ECC) Preseason Coaches Poll, after finishing last season with a 19-11 overall record and a 13-7 mark in the ECC. Head Coach Tim Cluess returns six letter winners, including three starters, and seven newcomers.

Tuesday's game will end a four games, in six days stretch, to start the season. Following the game the Eagle will be off until Saturday, Dec. 1, as they open CACC action at Nyack College.

Notes: Kevin Donnelly will serve as an honorary coach for the game after being awarded the honor at the men's basketball golf outing, in the fall ... He is the brother of Head Coach Mike Donnelly and lives in Middletown with his wife Allison and two sons Adian and Tristan.
