Men's Basketball Garners Number-One Seed In CACC North Division

NEW HAVEN, Conn.-The Post University men's basketball team, captured the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division Regular Season Championship, with a 10-6 conference record.

The Eagles will enter the CACC Men's Basketball Championships as the number-one seed in the North Division, and will host Bloomfield College in the quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off for Saturday's contest is slated for 2 p.m. at the Drubner Center. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students with valid ID.

Saturday's game will be webcast on the Eagles Sports Network, beginning with the Nike Pre-Game Show at 1:35 p.m. Joe Coss (play-by-play) and Claudel Jean-Louis (color analyst) will call all the action.

Post won both meetings with Bloomfield this season, winning 86-81 in overtime on January 29 in Bloomfield, N.J., and 82-71 on February 13 at the Drubner Center.

Post has won six of its last nine games heading into the CACC Tournament, and finished the regular season with a 14-13 overall record and an 8-4 record in the friendly confines of the Drubner Center.

Bloomfield earned the number-four seed, with a 93-85 win over Felician College on Wednesday evening. The Deacons tied with Nyack with a 6-10 CACC record, but earned the tiebreaker over the Warriors. Bloomfield finished the regular season with a 15-15 overall record.

The Eagles had three players garner All-Conference honors, as senior Arthur Robertson (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Beach Channel) was a first-team All-CACC selection. Senior Peter Lawal (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale) was a third-team All-CACC choice, and junior AJ Reitter (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) earned honorable mention honors for the second consecutive season.

The other CACC North Division quarterfinal, pits the number-two seed Caldwell College (11-16, 9-7 CACC) hosting the number-three seed Dominican College (13-14, 8-8 CACC) on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

In the South Division, the number-one seed Philadelphia University (19-11, 16-0 CACC) will host number-four seed University of the Sciences (13-14, 7-9 CACC) Saturday at 2 p.m., while number-two seed Holy Family University (19-8, 12-4 CACC) will host number-three Goldey-Beacom (16-11, 8-8 CACC) Saturday at 4 p.m.

Games will be played at campus sites of the higher seed. The semifinals, on Wednesday, March 5, have the highest remaining seed in each division crossing-over to face the lowest remaining seed in the opposite division. The semifinal winners will meet in the championship game on Saturday, March 8 at the highest remaining seed.
