Men's BasketballFelician Edges Men's Basketball, 77-78 January 15, 2008 WATERBURY, Conn.-Devon Young made 1-of-2 free throws to give Felician College a 78-77 win over the Post University men's basketball team, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game at the Drubner Center, Tuesday evening. The loss drops the Eagles to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in the CACC, while Felician improves to 7-8 and 2-4 in the CACC. Felician led the entire second half, after taking a 38-33 lead into the locker room at halftime, but the Eagles were able to whittle away at a 74-67 lead with 1:53 left on the clock, tying the game at 77-77, with a 13-3 run. Senior Arthur Robertson (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Beach Channel) drained a trey to cut the lead to 74-70 with 1:36 left. Young made 1-of-2 from the line for Felician, and Robertson, who had a team-high 20 points calmly made two free throws to cut the lead to 75-72. Jason Romer put Felician back up by five with a pair of charity stripe tosses, but a driving lay-up from freshman Garvin McAlister (Norwich, Conn./N.F.A.) cut the lead to 77-74 with 14 ticks left on the clock. The Eagles were forced to foul, and Ryan Moseley came up empty at his trip to the line, giving the Eagles some hope. Post worked the ball around to junior Omar Robinson, whose three-pointer from well behind the line, tied the game at 77-77, with eight seconds left on the clock. Robinson finished the evening with nine points, all on three-point buckets However, Derrell Thomas was fouled and made 1-of-2 free throws with four second left to give Felician the upset win. Robertson was one rebound shy of his fourth double-double in a row, as he led three Eagles in double figures. Junior Jesse Iyalekhue (Bronx, N.Y./Columbus) netted 11 points, including 10 in the first half, while junior AJ Reitter (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) added 10 points. Post shot 52.9 percent from the field, knocking down 27-of-51 from the floor. The Eagles were also effective from three-point range connecting on 40 percent (8-20) from distance. However, the Eagles struggled from the free throw line converting 53.6 percent (15-28). Felician, who had four scorers in double figures led by Romer's 20 points, shot 43.5 percent (27-62) from the field, 43.5 percent (10-23) from three-point range, and 56 percent (14-25) from the foul line. Felician out-rebounded the Eagles 37-35, including a 14-10 margin on the offensive glass. Despite that, the Eagles out scored the Falcons 11-9 in second chance points and 28-26 in the paint. Post returns to the hardwood on Saturday, as it hosts Chestnut
Hill in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Tip-off is
slated for 3 p.m.
