January 11, 2008

WATERBURY, Conn.-Junior forward AJ Reitter (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) recorded a career-high 42 points, in an 88-83 win over Felician College on Thursday evening, at Job Gym in Rutherford, N.J.

Reitter amassed the highest point-total in a game, in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), this season. It was also the highest point-total since Philadelphia University's Tayron Thomas had 53 points against Presbyterian on November 13, 2005. Bloomfield's Andre Dabney netted 50 points against Dominican on February 9, 2006.

Reitter also recorded the highest field goal total this season with 17, eclipsing the previous mark of 14, by Holy Family's Michael Sturns against Chowan on December 15, 2007. The junior forward also tied the season-best in the conference for field goals attempted with 23.

To go along with his 73.9 percent shooting from the floor, Reitter nailed 4-of-6 from three-point range, and was 4-of-5 from the free throw line. Thirty-two of his points came in the second half, as he connected on 13-of-16 from the floor and 2-of-3 from downtown.

The junior forward also grabbed 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season, and second of his career. In addition, he had an assist and a block.

Reitter's 42-point performance was the first since Ron Christy had 42 points in a 91-75 win over University of the Sciences on February 7, 2004. Christy connected on 16-of-20 from the field, 3-of-6 from three-point range, and 7-of-13 from the charity stripe.

With his 42-point effort he went over 800 points for his career. He leads the team in scoring with 16.9 points per game, and has scored double-digits in 10 games, and scored over 20 points in three games. He had 29 points on opening night against Merrimack, and 26 points against Pace on December 6.

The Eagles are 7-7 on the season, and 4-1 in the CACC, including a 2-0 record against CACC North opponents. Post returns to the hardwood on Thursday, Jan. 15 against Felician College. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m.
