GolfGolf Moves Up One Spot In Second Day Of Northeast Regional Play May 6, 2008 MIDDLETOWN, Del.-Junior Jamie Blake (Arbroath, Scotland) carded a two over-par 73 and the Post University golf team recorded the lowest score of the second round, with a 300, as the Eagles move up to third place, at the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Championships, at the Back Creek Country Club Tuesday afternoon. "We are four shots off the lead going into the final round," Head Coach Pete Stevens said at the completion of the second round. "The first two rounds are just jockeying for position, but I feel that we are in a good position to win going into tomorrow." The tournament concludes on the par-71, 6,585-yard Back Creek Golf Course on Wednesday morning. Earlier this season the Eagles won their third straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship on the same course. "In order for us to win the tournament, everyone is going to have to bring their A-game tomorrow," Stevens added. "Jamie is having a great tournament, which is good for our team. The players know what they have to do to win." Starting on the 10th hole today, Blake recorded an even-par score of 36 on his first nine holes, while recording birdies on the 12th, 15th, and 18th holes. He also had birdies on the 2nd and 6th holes. For the tournament the junior has shot a 150 (77-75) and is tied for fifth overall. Freshman David McGregor (Helensburgh, Scotland) was second on the team on Tuesday after he shot a three over-par 74. He had birdies on the par-5 11th hole, and the par-5 16th. He is tied for eighth overall with a 151 (77-74). Freshman Ryan Philipp (Bristol, Conn.) is also tied for eighth overall with a 151. After shooting a 75 on Monday, Philipp recorded a five over-par 76 this afternoon. He had birdies on the par-3 2nd hole and the par-4 6th hole. Sophomore Lee Wanklyn (Berkshire, England) rebounded from an 81 in the first round, to record a six over-par 77, today. He birdied his first hole, the par-4 10th hole. Wanklyn is tied for 21st overall with a 158 (81-77). Senior Calum Malcolm finished Tuesday's round with an 84, he is currently 37th overall with a 162 (78-84). Today, he had a birdie on the par-5 11th hole. Bryant leads the way with a score of 603 (300-303), while Pace University is second with a 605 (303-302). Post follows with its 607 (307-300), and is ahead of St. Thomas Aquinas 616 (299-317), Adelphi 622 (314-308), UMass-Lowell 626 (310-316), Wilmington 638 (329-309), and Bentley 640 (324-316). The Eagles will tee-off on Wednesday, at the 1st hole, with players from Pace University and West Liberty State University (from the East Region, which is also being contested at the Back Creek Golf Course). The winner of the Northeast Regional will earn a trip to the NCAA Division II Championships in Houston, Texas.
