GolfPhilipp Captures Peter King Memorial Championship April 7, 2008 RIVERHEAD, N.Y.-Freshman Ryan Philipp captured individual medalist honors and the Post University men's golf team won the team title with a score of 602, at the Peter King Memorial Golf Tournament hosted by Dowling College, Monday afternoon at the Long Island National Golf Course. "This team played with the intensity that made them champions," Head Coach Pete Stevens said following the tournament. "They were eight strokes back after the first day and came back in the wind and the cold to win by eight strokes." Philipp, who was in ninth place following first round play on Sunday with a 75, carded a 71 on Monday to finish the tournament with a 146, one stroke ahead of Garrett Beyor of American International. Freshman David McGregor, who was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday, finished in a three-way tie for second on the team, with a 152, with rounds of 77 and 75. McGregor was joined by junior Jamie Blake, who recorded a first round score of 77 and a second round total of 75, and senior Calum Malcolm who fired a 79 in the first round, registered a 73 on Monday. Sophomore Lee Wanklyn finished with a 161 (81-80). The Eagles, finished ahead of Pace (610), Adelphi (620), Dowling (626), STAC (626), Wilmington (629), Dominican (631), AIC (639), Assumption (641), LeMoyne (641), Goldey-Beacom (643), Holy Family (645), Southern New Hampshire (650), Nyack (669), St. Rose (690), and University of New Haven (703). "This is the kind of momentum we need going into the CACC Championships next week," Stevens added. "We will be going into the tournament with the confidence and swagger needed to defend our championship." The Eagles will be looking to capture their third straight CACC
