April 21, 2008

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass.-The Post University men's golf team shot a 311 and is tied with Pace University for second place, just five strokes behind first-round leader Adelphi, following the first-round of the American International College Invitational at the Springfield Country Club Monday afternoon.

"After seeing the course for the first time today I expect that our scores should be better tomorrow," Head Coach Pete Stevens said. We are once again in a position to win a tournament, coming off the momentum of winning the CACC Championship last week."

"It was a difficult course with small saucer-shaped greens, that was undulating, so you have to play below the pins," Stevens said about the Donald Ross designed course.

The AIC Invitational will conclude on Tuesday morning. The Eagles are preparing for the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Championship, at the Back Creek Golf Club in Middletown, Del., May 5-7. The Eagles will be making their fourth straight appearance in the Northeast Regional, after winning their third straight CACC Championship last week.
