Men's Golf Heads To Goldey-Beacom Invitational

WATERBURY, Conn.-The Post University golf team will compete in its third event of the spring season, Monday and Tuesday in Avondale, Pa., at the Goldey-Beacom Invitational.

Goldey-Beacom will serve as the host, for the two-round 36-hole tournament at the 6,470-yard Hartefeld National Golf Course.

The Eagles will participate in a practice round on Sunday, before tournament play begins on Monday morning.

Sophomore Lee Wanklyn was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golfer of the Week, on Tuesday, after finishing third overall at the Pace Invitational. Wanklyn carded a two-round score of 151 (+7), finishing with rounds of 76 and 75 for the tournament. He was the highest CACC competitor in the field, and was the top finisher for the Eagles for the second time this spring.

Freshman Ryan Philipp was second on the team and tied for 12th overall with a two-round total of 157 (+12). Philipp was a CACC honorable mention selection, after finishing the tournament with a pair of 78's.

At the Goldey-Beacom Invitational last season, Wanklyn finished tied for ninth, with an even-par 72 in the first round. That week, he was also named CACC Rookie of the Week.

Following the Goldey-Beacom Invitational, the Eagles will play at the Peter King Memorial Golf Tournament, hosted by Dowling College, April 6-8.
