Wanklyn Finishes Third At Pace Spring Invitational

WATERBURY, Conn.-Sophomore captain Lee Wanklyn (Berkshire, England/Bracknell) finished third overall, for the Post University golf team, at the 2008 Pace University Spring Invitational, at the Crown Park Country Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C. March 20-21.

Wanklyn finished second-round play with a three-over 75, finishing the two-day tournament with a seven-over 151, finishing tied with Dan Brown of Dowling College. The pair was six strokes back of Michael Dominici of Pace, who won in a playoff over David Martinez of Brevard, who each fired a one-over 145 for the tournament.

As a team, the Eagles finished fifth overall with a two-round score of 632. Post was also the highest finishing Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) team, finishing ahead of Dominican (6th-place), Wilmington (8th-place), Goldey-Beacom (9th-place), and Nyack (10th-place).

Freshman Ryan Philipp (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Eastern) finished second on the team and tied for 12th overall with a 156 for the tournament. He carded back-to-back 78's to finish +12 for the tournament.

Senior Jamie Blake (Arbroath, Scotland/Arbroath) finished third on the team and tied for 19th overall with a 159 (79-80), while freshman David McGregor (Helensburgh, Scotland) recorded a 166 (85-81), finishing tied for 36th overall, and senior Calum Malcolm (Dunfermline, Scotland/Queen Anne) finished with a 172 (85-87).

Post returns to the links March 30-April 1 at the Goldey-Beacom Invitational at the Hartefeld National Golf Course in Avondale, Pa.
