March 12, 2008

WILSON, N.C.-Sophomore Lee Wanklyn fired a one-over par 73 for the second day in a row, to finish tied for 10th overall at the prestigious 2 Targets/Barton College Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at the Wilson Country Club. As a team, the Eagles finished sixth overall with a two-round score of 622.

"Lee Wanklyn came out and shot another one-over 73, to put him in a tie with some of the nation's best golfers," Head Coach Pete Stevens said. "We were using this tournament as a warm-up and I am very pleased with the way we played. Finishing in the middle of the pack with some of the nation's best golfers is a credit to this program and its players; especially since this was the first time out on a golf course since the fall."

Wanklyn finished with a two-round total of 143, after carding identical 73's in each round.

Freshman David McGregor made an impressive collegiate debut, finishing second on the team and tied for 35th overall with a two-round total of 146. He finished the first round with a 79, and fired a 73 in the second round on Tuesday.
