Malcolm Finishes Second At Adelphi Fall Invite

October 8, 2007

SHOREHAM, N.Y.-The Post University men's golf team finished second at the 2007 Adelphi Fall Invitational at the Tall Grass Country Club on Monday afternoon. The first round was not completed on Sunday due to darkness, and was completed on Monday morning.

"The team played well this weekend," Head Coach Pete Stevens said. "I am pleased with the way our tempo is coming together. We had a slow start to the season, but the team responded to my challenge."

With windy conditions on Monday, the team carded a two-round score of 601, finishing two strokes back of tournament champion, St. Thomas Aquinas with a 599.

Senior Calum Malcolm finished second overall with a two-round total of 146. He fired an even-par 71 in the first round, and grinded out a four-over par 75, in second round action, to lead the Eagles.

Sophomore captain Lee Wanklyn recorded a five-over par 76 in the first round, and a four-over par 75 in the second round to finish the tournament with a 151.

Sophomore Jim Livingstone shot a two-over par 73 in the first round, but struggled with the conditions in the second round with an 81, finishing the tournament with a 154, to finish third on the team.

Freshman Ryan Philipp registered a two-round score of 156 (77, 79), and junior Jamie Blake recorded a 160 (85, 75).

Overall Stevens liked what he saw from the team in this tournament. "We did leave a few shots out there, but I am proud of them and I know we will get better and finish the fall season strong."

Post will finish the fall portion of the season, at the 2007 New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships, October 21-23 at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass. Two years ago, the Eagles captured the Division II Championships.
