GolfMen's Golf Ties For 10th At NEIGA Championships October 23, 2007 BREWSTER, Mass.-Post University led by sophomore Jim Livingstone finished tied for 10th at the 73rd annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships, at the Captains Golf Club, on Tuesday afternoon. Forty-two teams, and 211 golfers, representing programs from NCAA Division I, II, and III, all across New England, took part in the 36-hole tournament. The Eagles were fourth among Division II programs with a team score of 629 (315-314). Bryant won the Division II crown with a score of 614, and was followed by Assumption with a 622, and UMass.-Lowell with a 623. The tournament is the oldest and largest in the country. Livingstone finished in the four-way tie for 18th place overall, carding a 153 (76-77) for the tournament. After finishing the first round tied for 23rd overall on Monday, he moved up several positions, despite wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour. Junior Jamie Blake was second on the team and tied for 39th overall with a 79 on Tuesday afternoon. Blake had a combined was +12 in the tournament with a 156 (77-79), and was in a group that included several Division I players. Senior Calum Malcolm followed, finishing the tournament +15 with a 159 (79-80). Freshman Ryan Philipp was next at +18 with a score of 162 (83-79), and sophomore Lee Wanklyn closed out at +20 with a 164 (85-79). Post finished third among schools from the State of Connecticut, trailing only the University of Connecticut, who was second with a 608, and Central Connecticut State, who was one-stroke better than the Eagles with a 628. Post also defeated several Division I schools including Sacred Heart, Quinnipiac, Fairfield, Holy Cross, and Providence. The New England Championships concludes the fall portion of the
schedule for the Eagles.
