Wanklyn Garners Fifth CACC Rookie Of The Week Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn.-Freshman Lee Wanklyn of the Post University men's golf team, earned his fifth Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Golf Rookie of the Week honors on Monday afternoon, after leading the Eagles at the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional, last week.

Wanklyn led the Eagles, finishing tied for 11th place in the overall competition with a 237 for the 54-hole tournament. In the first-round, he carded a nine-over 80, on the difficult 7,001-yard Speidel Golf Club's Jones Course, in Wheeling, W.Va.

He recorded his low-round of the tournament, with a six-over 77, in the second-round, birdying the par-four 12th hole. In the third-round, he once again carded a nine-over 80.

The freshman was the top rookie among CACC competitors in the Northeast Region field.

During the regular season, he captured the CACC Rookie of the Year, with a third place finish at the 2007 CACC Championships at the Frog Hollow Country Club in Middletown, Delaware. He also earned All-CACC honors with his top-10 finish.

Post finished the season at the NCAA Northeast Regional, earning its third consecutive trip, by winning the CACC Championship for the second time in as many years.

Interim Head Coach Tommy Dorso, was named the CACC Coach of the Year, and is filling in for Head Coach Pete Stevens who is serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq.
