GolfGolf Finishes Play At NCAA Northeast Regional May 9, 2007 WHEELING, W.Va.-Freshman Lee Wanklyn finished tied for 11th at the 2007 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Northeast Regional, at the Speidel Golf Club's Jones Course on Wednesday afternoon. Wanklyn, who was the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Year, fired an 80 on the afternoon, to lead the Eagles, who struggled in the final round of the 54-hole tournament, on the 7,001-yard Jones Course. He finished his first Northeast Regional, just one shot shy of the top-10 with combined score of 237 (80, 77, 80). Sophomore Lloyd Notley finished 14th overall with an 84 in the third-round on Wednesday. Notley, who was the co-leader after the first day, and was tied for fourth through two rounds, finished the tournament with a total score of 238 (75, 79, 84). Earlier this season, he captured the ECAC Division II Championship low medalist honors. Sophomore Jamie Blake finished third on the team and 26th overall with an 80 on the final day of competition. He shot an 89 in the first round, and came back to shoot a 76 in the second round, finishing the tournament with a total of 245. Freshman Josh Ralton finished fourth on the team and 40th overall with a total score of 262 (89, 90, 83). He recorded his best round of the tournament on Wednesday, with an 83. He birdied the par-5 eighth hole. Junior Calum Malcolm rounded out the Eagles with a three-round total of 266 (92, 90, 84). As a team the Eagles finished eighth overall with a score of 982 for the three-round tournament. The Eagles shot 333 on the first day, 322 on the second, and 327 this afternoon. LeMoyne College edged out Bryant, who led after the first- and second-rounds with a total score of 949. Bryant had a 951, Pace also had a 951 to finish tied for second. Bentley was fourth with a 965, and was followed by Goldey-Beacom 970, St. Thomas Aquinas 971, Assumption 978, and the Eagles 982. The Northeast Regional concludes a very successful season for the Eagles, as they captured their second consecutive CACC Championship title, and their third appearance in the Northeast Regional. In addition, the Eagles won their first-ever ECAC Division II Championships in October. At this year's CACC Championships, the Eagles won the team title with a team score of 311. Wanklyn was named Rookie of the Year, and earned All-Conference honors with Notley, who also earned All-Conference honors as a freshman. In addition, Interim Head Coach Tommy Dorso was named the CACC Coach of the Year. Dorso filled in this year, for Head Coach Pete Stevens, while Stevens is serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq.
