Notley Leads After Day One Of NCAA Division II Golf Northeast Regional

WHEELING, W.Va.-Sophomore Lloyd Notley is tied for the lead in the 2007 NCAA Division II Golf Northeast Regional Championship at the 7,001-yard Speidel Golf Club's Jones Course, following first-round action on Monday.

Notley is the clubhouse leader along with Dan Psinakis of Pace University, with a four-over par 75.

The sophomore, who began the first round on the 10^th hole, fired a 37 through his first nine holes, and made the turn finishing with a 38 the rest of the way. He finished the round, birdying the final two holes with a four on the par-5 eighth hole, and a three, on the par-four ninth.

Earlier this season, Notley won the 2006 ECAC Division II Championship, and garnered his second consecutive All-CACC honors.

Freshman Lee Wanklyn is second on the team and tied for 14^th overall with a nine over par 80. Wanklyn the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Year, shot a two-over through the first nine holes, but struggled on the second-nine recording only two pars in that span.

Sophomore Jamie Blake and freshman Josh Ralton are tied for third on the team, each shooting an 89 in the first round. Junior Calum Malcolm rounds out the Eagle contingent with a 92.

As a team the Eagles are in eighth place following the first day of the three-day tournament. Bryant College leads the field with a 319, followed by Pace 322, LeMoyne 323, Bentley 323, Goldey-Beacom 325, Assumption 327, St. Thomas Aquinas 329, and the Eagles 333.
