Andrew McNamara begins his second season as the head coach of the Post University baseball program, after guiding the Eagles to an 18-20 overall record and an 8-8 mark in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in his first season in 2007.

The Eagles enjoyed tremendous success, finishing one game shy of qualifying for the CACC Championship, winning its last three games in a row, all against tournament participants. In addition, two players were selected to the All-CACC second-team, and five of his players were named to the CACC Spring All-Academic Team.

Nicknamed "AJ," he came to Post in the summer of 2006 from Mount Saint Vincent College in the Bronx, where he spent two seasons as the head coach of the baseball program. In his first season of the program, he guided the Dolphins to a 15-20 overall record, and an 11-11 mark in the wood-bat Skyline Conference. As a result, he was second on the balloting for 2005 Coach of the Year.

His players succeeded both on and off the diamond, in his coaching tenure at the Mount. His pitching staff finished third in the conference in earned run average, and the team finished fourth in the conference in fielding percentage. Also, five players were nominated for awards, such as Rookie of the Year and Pitcher of the Year.

In the classroom, the team maintained an above 3.0 grade point average for three straight semesters, and seven student-athletes garnered spots on the Dean's List.

"I'm excited to be here at Post University," he said. "This program has the tools to be one of the most prestigious Division II programs in the Northeast. With time and patience I hope to bring this program to that level."

Prior to assuming the reigns of the baseball program at the Mount, McNamara was an assistant baseball coach at Wabash College from 2001-02. He worked with the pitching staff, guiding three players to All-Conference selections, and one All-Region award winner.

From 1999 to 2001, McNamara was an assistant coach at Western Connecticut State University. He was responsible for the pitching staff, team defense, and game day operations. One of his pitchers earned All-Conference and All-Region recognition, in his time on the Danbury campus.

He holds a bachelor's degree in communications and marketing from Virginia Wesleyan College, and a master's degree in organizational leadership from Mercy College.

In addition to his duties as the head baseball coach, McNamara is also the facilities coordinator at Post University. He also served as interim women's basketball assistant coach last winter.

He resides in Waterbury, Conn.
