BaseballBaseball Drops CACC Contest At Philadelphia University April 4, 2008 PHILADELPHIA-The Post University baseball team rallied from a four-run deficit to tie the game at 4-4, but Philadelphia University pushed across a run in the bottom of the eighth inning, to take the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game at Alumni Field, Friday afternoon. Philadelphia (3-13, 2-2 CACC) put the first run of the day, on the board, in the bottom of the first inning, and took a 2-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Kyle Noonan tripled, to give the Rams a 3-0 lead, and Jason Hartley singled in Noonan, to give the Rams a 4-0 lead. However, the Eagles (8-13, 1-2 CACC) whittled away at the lead, with two runs in the top of the sixth inning. Senior Eric Rovinetti (Watertown, Conn./Southern Connecticut State Univ.) led off the inning with a double, then came home on a junior Joe Proscia (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) base hit. Proscia would later score on a passed ball, to cut the lead to 4-2. In the seventh inning after a freshman Garrett Keenan (Massapequa, N.Y./St. John the Baptist), pinch-hit leadoff single, and a sacrifice hit by junior Dan Luisi (Bethpage, N.Y./Holy Trinity). Junior Corey Huffine (Colorado Springs, Colo./McCook C.C.) laced a run-scoring single that cut the Ram lead to 4-3. Rovinetti walked, and a wild pitch moved him and Huffine up 90-feet. Senior Curtis Anthony (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) grounded out, to bring Huffine home, and knot the game at 4-4. Philadelphia pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning, when JungMin Lee's RBI-single plated Anthony DiFrancesco. Huffine went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Eagles with a run scored and a run batted in, while Rovinetti went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Proscia was also 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Rob Fisher pitched two innings of relief to get the win for the Rams, while sophomore Tim McCarthy (Waterbury, Conn./Kennedy) (0-1)was tagged with the loss, after giving up one run on two hits in three innings of relief. The conclusion of the CACC series, was to be played on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader at Municipal Stadium, in Waterbury, Conn., however, the doubleheader has been postponed. Caldwell College for a CACC twinbill, beginning at 12 p.m.
