BaseballDominican Sweeps Baseball In CACC Twinbill April 16, 2008 WATERBURY, Conn.-Dominican College won the first game of a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader against the Post University baseball team, Wednesday afternoon at Municipal Stadium, 5-2, and scored six runs in the top of the second inning, to take the nightcap 11-4. Dominican improves to 17-18 overall and 9-6 in the CACC, while the Eagles fall to 11-20 overall and 3-9 in CACC play. In the first game, Dominican scored two runs in the top of the second, but the Eagles cut the lead in half in the bottom of the third, as with the bases loaded, junior first baseman Jim Conto (W. Hempstead, N.Y./Holy Trinity) grounded into a fielder's choice, which plated junior third baseman Corey Huffine (Colorado Springs, Colo./McCook C.C.), who led the inning off ripping a single to centerfield. But the Chargers scored two more runs in the top of the fourth and one more in the fifth to take a 5-1 lead into the seventh. Post was able to add a run in their last at-bat, as junior Donnie Dlabola (Levittown, N.Y./Nassau C.C.) reached on a fielding error allowing junior second baseman Dan Luisi (Bethpage, N.Y./Holy Trinity) to score. Luisi laced a two-out single to right. Senior left fielder Eric Rovinetti (Watertown, N.Y./Southern Connecticut State Univ.) was 2-for-4 at the plate in the first game. In the nightcap, the Chargers broke the game open in the second inning sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring six runs on three hits and two Post errors. Dominican would add three more in the top of the fourth, and one in the fifth and sixth innings. Luisi was 2-for-3 with an RBI in the nightcap for the Eagles, while freshman Rob Perry (Manchester, Conn.,/Manchester) went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored. Freshman Garrett Keenan (Massapequa, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a walk. Post will travel to the University of New Haven for a
non-conference game on Thursday afternoon. First pitch is slated
for 3 p.m.
