Wilmington Edges Baseball, In Both Ends Of CACC Twinbill

NEW CASTLE, Del.-The Post University baseball team dropped a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games to Wilmington College, Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field. The host Wildcats won the first game 2-1 in extra innings, and came back to take the nightcap, 5-1.

Post falls to 11-17 overall and 3-6 in the CACC, while Wilmington improves to 15-15 overall and 9-1 in CACC play.

In the first game, after the Wildcats took a 1-0 lead, the Eagles tied the game in the top of the fifth inning, with a RBI-single from junior Corey Huffine that plated junior Dan Luisi. However, the Wildcats scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning, of a game originally scheduled for seven.

But in the nightcap, Wilmington scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 5-0 lead. Post was only able to get one of those runs back in the top of the fifth inning. As senior Chris Ouellette drove in sophomore Jose Reyes.

Post returns to action on Sunday, as it hosts Felician College in a makeup game at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury, Conn. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
