Wilmington Edges Baseball 13-10, In Slugfest

NEW CASTLE, Del.-A three-run fourth inning led Wilmington University past the Post University baseball team 13-10 on Friday afternoon at Wilson Field in the first game of a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) series. Wilmington improves to 13-15 overall and 7-1 in the CACC, while the Eagles fall to 11-15 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

Senior DH Eric Rovinetti (Watertown, Conn./Southern Connecticut State University) went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs batted in, to lead the Eagles at the plate. Sophomore Jose Reyes (Yonkers, N.Y./Roosevelt) went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.

The Eagles were the home team in the first game of the CACC set, per conference rules. The teams will assume traditional roles on Saturday for the conclusion of the series with a doubleheader at 12 p.m.

Junior third baseman Corey Huffine (Colorado Springs, Colo./McCook C.C.) went 1-for-5 with two runs scored. Junior first baseman Jim Conto (W. Hempstead, N.Y./Holy Trinity) went 1-for-3 with a walk two runs scored and a run batted in. Freshman pinch-hitter Garret Keenan (Massapequa, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) went 1-for-1 with two runs batted in for the Eagles.

The CACC series concludes on Saturday with a pair of seven-inning games beginning at 12 p.m. at Wilson Field.
