BaseballBaseball Falls To Florida Tech Monday Afternoon March 10, 2008 MELBOURNE, Fla.-Sophomore shortstop Jose Reyes (Yonkers, N.Y./Roosevelt) went 2-for-3 and junior catcher Joe Proscia (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) went 1-for-3 with a run scored, as the Post University baseball team fell to Florida Tech 14-1 on Monday afternoon at Andy Semenick-Les Hall Field. With the win the Panthers improve to 17-6-1, while the Eagles fall to 3-7, and 2-3 on its trip to Florida over spring break. Florida Tech started the game off quickly scoring six runs on five hits and one error. Eric Trillas highlighted the offensive output with a two-run single to right centerfield. Trillas led the day at the plate for the Panthers going 4-for-5 with three runs scored and three runs batted in. The Eagles got one of those runs back in the top of the second inning, as junior first baseman Jim Conto (W. Hempstead, N.Y./Holy Trinity) stroked a two-out single to right field, driving in junior Joe Proscia (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian), who's infield single caromed off the pitcher's mound. Proscia was coming off hitting the game-winning hit, in Sunday's 5-4 win, in the second game of a doubleheader, against Pitt-Johnstown. However, the Panthers took a 9-1 lead in the bottom of the second with three runs on three hits. Florida Tech added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth and one runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings to account for the runs on the afternoon. Conto extended his personal hitting streak to six games. Huffine Earns CACC Honorable Mention Junior Corey Huffine (Colorado Springs, Colo./McCook) was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Honorable Mention, after collecting four hits in 10 at-bats in the first two games of the trip to Florida. Huffine also scored three runs and had one run batted in and a stolen base for the Eagles. The Eagles continue their spring break trip to Florida on
Tuesday afternoon, as they travel to Lynn University in Boca Raton,
Fla. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
