Luisi Tabbed Baseball Co-Captain

November 28, 2007

WATERBURY, Conn.-Post University baseball Head Coach AJ McNamara announced this afternoon that junior infielder Dan Luisi (Bethpage, N.Y./Holy Trinity) has been named co-captain of the baseball program.

Luisi joins senior outfielder Chris Ouellette (Uncasville, Conn./Uncasville), who was named co-captain earlier this summer, because of his commitment to the Post University men's soccer team in the fall.

"Dan has grown up immensely in just the short time I have been around him," McNamara said. "His work ethic and attitude is unparalleled. Off the field, he is a solid student, a good citizen and a positive influence with everyone he comes in contact with."

This past season, Luisi finished third on the team in hitting with a .308 batting average, while knocking in 21 runners, and crossing the plate 21 times himself.

He was also fourth on the team in on-base percentage (.372), tied for third in hits (41), fourth on the team in runs batted in (21), fifth in total bases (47), third in walks (13), and led the team in sacrifice bunts (4).

"On the field, he is arguably one of the finest infielders there is in the conference," the second-year Eagle mentor said. "I am very proud of how much he has grown as a person, as well as a student-athlete and I look forward to seeing his leadership qualities take center stage with our programs."

Ouellette led the team in runs scored (28), stolen bases (8), hit by pitches (4), plate appearances (165), and at-bats (150), this past season for the Eagles. He batted .233 with one homerun and 12 runs batted in.

Post finished the 2007 season with an 18-20 overall record, and an 8-8 mark in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).

The Eagles will open the 2008 season the weekend of February 23 and 24, with a three-game series at Chowan College in North Carolina.
