BaseballWhite Pounds Out 16 Hits, Cruises To 9-0 Win Over Green September 19, 2007 WATERBURY, Conn.-Junior infielder Corey Huffine had three hits and sophomore Michael Wolfe pitched three innings of shutout ball, to help the Green Team to a 9-0 win over the White Team, in the second game of the Post University baseball Green-White World Series, a three-game intrasquad series, Tuesday evening at Municipal Stadium. "I like our mentality right now," Head Coach AJ McNamara said in review of the second game of the series. "We seem to be a very confident bunch and an extremely aggressive team. Much of that can be attributed to a strong group of upperclassmen. We're getting better each day and that it's about with us." Wolfe started the game for the White, giving up no runs for the second consecutive game, while striking out six batters. Junior Matt Keiser came on in relief to give up one hit in two innings, while striking out two. Junior Ben Schoenberg struck out two in an inning of relief for the White. Junior Brendan Wyman started for the Green Team, and threw three solid innings, allowing only one run on two hits, while sophomore Mike Perry struck out two in an inning of relief. "The two Mike's, Wolfe and Perry have really looked good in the fall," McNamara said about the pitching staff. "Both have matured immensely and they're much more consistent with their mechanics now. The pitchers did a much better job (Tuesday) than in game one. They all threw with confidence and a better understanding of how to get hitters out." Huffine was 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles, three runs batted in, and two runs scored for the White Team. Freshman infielder Garret Keenan was 2-for-4 with a run batted in, two runs scored and two doubles. Junior catchers Mike Moriarty and Joe San Fillippo each went 3-for-4, in the win. The Green Team had five hits on the evening, as junior Curtis Anthony led with way going 2-for-3. "I was very impressed with some of the swings thus far," McNamara said of his hitters. "The guys are really adjusting well to the wood bat. Mechanically, their swings have gotten much shorter and quicker, and they're letting the ball get depth and looking to drive it the other way." The series will conclude on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch slated for 12 p.m. at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury, Conn. Although the White Team clinched the series, and bragging rights, after a come-from-behind win in game 1, McNamara said the team will be divided up differently for Game 3. Notes: The Alumni Game will be played on Sunday, Oct. 7 at Municipal
Stadium in Waterbury, Conn. The game will feature the current
players in the program, squaring off against former members of the
Post University baseball program. For more information please
