BaseballOuellette Named Baseball Captain June 25, 2007 WATERBURY, Conn.-Post University baseball Head Coach AJ McNamara has named rising senior centerfielder Chris Ouellette as captain of the baseball program. The rest of the co-captains of the baseball program will be announced at the conclusion on preseason practices. McNamara decided to announce Ouellette's captaincy early, because he will spend the fall, playing with the Post men's soccer program. "For me, naming Chris as a captain for the 2007-08 season was an easy decision," McNamara said. "He has all the qualities that I look for when choosing a leader for the program. He is a well-mannered young man, a scholar-athlete, and a tireless competitor both on and off the field and throughout the community." This past season on the diamond for the Eagles, he led the team in runs scored (28), stolen bases (8), hit by pitches (4), plate appearances (165), and at-bats (150). At the plate, he batted .233 with one homerun, and 12 runs batted in. he also had four doubles and fielded his position well, by making several outstanding plays in the outfield during the course of the season. From March 30 to April 14, he had an 11-game hitting streak, in which he hit .361 (17-47) with 14 runs scored and four runs batted in. During the streak, he also had a double, four walks, and five stolen bases. "His enthusiasm, maturity and work ethic are second to none and his attributes extend well beyond his youth," McNamara said. "More than anything, he understands the amount of work it takes to be successful and he never settles for anything less. I'm excited to have someone like ‘Deuce' follow in the footsteps of this past year's outstanding captains." In addition to his athletic achievements on the field, Ouellette has excelled in the classroom, as he earned three awards for his academic performance in the classroom this past year. He was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
(CACC) Fall All-Academic Team as a member of the men's soccer team,
and earned his second appearance on the CACC Spring All-Academic
Team. Also, at the annual Athletic Banquet, he was named the Post
University Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.
