Miranda Polaski Selected As Conference NCAA Woman of the Year Candidate

Final 30 candidates will be named in September

AUSTIN, Texas. – Post University women's lacrosse and tennis student-athlete Miranda Polaski (Agawam, Mass.) has been selected by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) as its NCAA Woman of the Year candidate. A record 147 NCAA female-student-athletes have been named 2015 Woman of the Year honorees by conferences and independent schools.

As a three-year captain, Polaski finished first in career goals (152), assists (80), points (232), shots (296), shots on goal (231), ground balls (217), draw controls (237), and caused turnovers (99). Polaski also earned second-team all-conference honors in each of the last three seasons. She also earned a spot on the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star Team in both the 2014 and 2015 campaigns.

Polaski also picked up a doubles victory as part of the women's tennis team last year.

In addition to her many athletic honors, Polaski received numerous academic awards. She is a two-time Capital One Academic All-American, four-time CACC All-Academic honoree, and was named Post University's Scholar-Athlete of the Year in May. Polaski made the President's List in all four years of her time at Post and was the CACC Student-Athlete of the Month during March 2015. She also represented the United States on the American International Sports Team at the 2014 Prague Cup.

Off the field, Polaski was involved in many community service activities both on and off campus. She assisted in day-to-day operations at Baystate Medical Center during the 2014-15 academic year on top of volunteering as a camp counselor at the Muscular Dystrophy Association from 2011-2014.

Polaski served as the president of Post's sustainability committee and was also a resident advisor, where she finished her career as the Vice President helping to organize 5k races for Home for Troops, breast cancer awareness and the American Heart Association. Polaski was president of the science club and a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), where she volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club and attended the NCAA student leadership forum. All of this made her the recipient of the Connecticut Higher Education Community Service Award in 2014.

The Woman of the Year selection committee will next select the top 10 honorees in each division. These top 30 honorees will be announced in early September. Three finalists will then be selected from each division at the end of September. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will vote from amongst those nine finalists to determine the 2015 Woman of the Year.

The conference nominees, selected from the record 480 school nominees, represent college athletes from 18 different sports spanning all three NCAA divisions. Of those recognized, 57 honorees competed in Division I, 39 competed in Division II and 51 competed in Division III.

The top 30 honorees will be honored and the 2015 NCAA Woman of the Year will be named at the annual ceremony in Indianapolis on Oct. 18.
