NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore
Katharina Mertz (Buxtehude, Germany) of the Post University women's soccer team was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team on Thursday. The team honors student-athletes for their contributions both on the field and in the classroom.
Mertz leads the Eagles this season with nine goals and 20 points. She has also chipped in two assists to help propel Post to its second straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament bid. Off the field, Mertz boasts an impressive 4.0 grade-point average as a Biology and Communications major.
The First Team All-District honorees from each of the eight regions move on to the All-America ballot. The Academic All-America teams will be announced on Nov. 23.
Post plays its final regular season match this afternoon against Bloomfield at home at 3 p.m. With a victory, the Eagles guarantee a top-four seed in the tournament and a first round home game.
