Box Score 2 WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University softball team swept Philadelphia, 3-0 and 6-1, Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field. Junior
Kaitlin Derby (Douglaston, N.Y.) pitched complete games in both victories and was in quite a groove on the mound all day. By sweeping the Rams in a conference battle, Post clinched a spot in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament.
Game One – Post 3, Philadelphia 0 Derby had arguably her best performance of the season in the first game. She gave up only two hits while tying her career-high with five strikeouts in seven scoreless innings on the mound. The junior right-hander had a no-hitter going through the first 4.2 innings.

Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) hit her sixth homerun of the season with a two-run bomb to left field in the second inning. Senior
Jackie Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) then gave Post a 3-0 lead with a single to score fellow senior
Casey Sclafani (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in the fourth.
Bonamassa went 2-for-4 in the first game. Sclafani and senior
Christina Udris (Levittown, Pa.) each had a pair of hits for Post. The Eagles racked up nine hits and played error-free in the game.
Game Two – Post 6, Philadelphia 1 Bonamassa scored the first run of the second game on a sacrifice fly hit by senior
Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.) in the first inning. Fellow senior
Rebecca Erb (Yardley, Pa.) drove in DeMartino with a single up the middle in the third to give Post a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles added three more runs in the fourth inning to take full control of the game. Bonamassa brought Udris home with a single up the middle before freshman
Natalie Lennox (Landenberg, Pa.) picked up an RBI in the very next at bat. Bonamassa then scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-0.
Freshman
Erica Ragazzone (Philadelphia, Pa.) drove home Bonamassa with a single to center in the sixth. Derby (9-3) nearly had another complete game shutout before giving up just one run in the final inning. Bonamassa scored three runs in the game and is now on a six-game hitting streak.
On Deck: Post (19-17, 15-5 CACC) will be in action next on Tuesday, April 22 at Wilmington for a 2 p.m. doubleheader. The Eagles are currently in second place in the CACC.
