Softball Caps off Spring Games with 9-3 Loss to Findlay

DeMartino Picks up Two Hits and an RBI

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Post University softball team capped off the NTC Spring Games with a 9-3 loss to Findlay on Thursday. Senior Stephanie DeMartino (Staten Island, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk.

DeMartino got the Eagles going with an RBI double in the third inning. She has now recorded at least one hit in seven of Post's nine games thus far. Findlay quickly responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-1 lead.

Senior Rebecca Erb (Yardley, Pa.) scored on a wild pitch and freshman Natalie Lennox (Landenberg, Pa.) drove home redshirt freshman Kayla Kresley (Alburtis, Pa.) with a single in the fourth to bring Post within two runs at 5-3.

The Oilers added one more run in the bottom of the fourth and put the game away for good with a two-run triple by Lauren Trumpler in the sixth. Trumpler would score the final run on an error.

Freshman Karoline Prevost (Fall River, Mass.) struck out four in two innings but drew the loss for the Eagles. Sophomore Samantha Esque (Springfield, Pa.) gave up five hits and four earned runs in four innings.

Lennox leaves the NTC Spring Games with an impressive .421 batting average. Sophomore Kaitlin Iacomini (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) went 1-for-2 with a run and a walk.

Post (2-7) has dropped its last six games after taking two of its first three games of the season. The Eagles' second game against Queens was cancelled.

On Deck: The Eagles will return home from their trip to Florida and will visit Southern Connecticut State for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 11 at 2:30 p.m. SCSU topped Post 5-3 on Wednesday, March 3.
