Derrick Strong Named CACC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week

Strong Receives Honor For Second Time This Season



NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Derrick Strong (St. Louis, Mo.) of the Post University men's basketball team was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Concordia on Tuesday, Jan. 14. It's the second time this season Strong has received the honor.
 
Strong tied a career-high with six steals to go along with 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists. He was 3-of-4 from behind the arc in the Eagles' 79-50 victory. This year Strong leads Post with 13.6 points per game and 38 steals. He is second in the conference and 16th in Division II at 2.5 steals per game.
 
The senior also earned the honor on Dec. 9. Strong had a career-high six steals, grabbed three boards, and dished out two assists as the Eagles snapped a four-game losing streak with a 77-68 victory over Wilmington on Dec. 7.
 
Junior AJ Harris (Inglewood, Calif.) was named Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 11. after recording seven steals in Post's season-opener against Southern New Hampshire.
 
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at home against Felician. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
