Eagles Lose At Home For First Time Since 2010

Box Score

WATERBURY, Conn. – The No.12 Post University men's soccer team dropped its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener against Chestnut Hill 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at LaMoy Field. The loss marks the first time Post has been defeated at home since 2010 and snaps its 11-game regular season CACC win streak.

The Eagles had chances to score and outshot the Griffins 17-5 on the afternoon, including 8-0 in the first half. Sophomore Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) led Post with five shots. Sophomore Francisco Sastre (Sao Paolo, Brazil) added four shots, including three on goal.

Early in first half, an offside call on the Eagles negated a goal by Moura off a set piece from senior Krzysztof Giezek (Southington, Conn.). Moura had another chance late in the half as he launched a shot from just inside the box, but James Jackson stopped it for one of his eight saves.

Robert Stocklin found the back of the net to break the tie with a header from close range off a corner by Juan Amaya in the 54th minute.

Post had an opportunity to tie the match late. Senior Henry Ipina (Danbury, Conn.) headed the ball off the crossbar in the 88th minute. Freshman Armando Filho (Cataguases, Brazil) launched the rebound just wide of the target.

The Eagles are back at home on Wednesday, Sept. 18 against Concordia at 3 p.m.
