Derrick Strong Named CACC Men’s Basketball Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Strong Recorded Six Steals In Post’s Victory Over The Weekend

CACC Men's Basketball Release

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Derrick Strong of the Post University men's basketball team was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Wilmington on Saturday. It's the first time in his career Strong has received a weekly honor from the conference.

Strong had a career-high six steals, grabbed three boards, and dished out two assists as the Eagles snapped a four-game losing streak with a 77-68 victory over Wilmington on Saturday. The senior also scored 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and was 8-of-9 from the foul line. Strong leads the conference with 2.7 steals per game this season.

It's the second time this year an Eagles' player has received the honor as junior AJ Harris (Inglewood, Calif.) was named Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 11.

Strong shared the honor with Ta'Vaune Griffin of Wilmington. Griffin average 12.5 rebounds and had nine blocks in two games last week.

Post is off this week, but returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 18 in a road clash with Bloomfield. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
