LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Post University women's volleyball team fell in heartbreaking fashion to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Georgian Court Saturday afternoon, 3-2. The set scores were 25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 21-25, 13-15. Freshman
Kerrin Kallmann (Lake Grove, N.Y.) led Post with 13 kills. Senior
Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) added 12 kills, a season-high 22 digs and three block assists.
Sophomore
Janiellee Alvarez (Norwich, Conn.) also notched a season-high 21 digs for the Eagles. Junior
Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) added 34 assists, nine digs, two service aces and two block assists.
Post took command early and won the first two sets. However, the Eagles just could not put the Lions away, and Georgian Court came all the way back to win the final three sets to steal the victory from Post.
Freshman
Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) had eight kills and four block assists. Senior
Stephanie Zarakas (Patterson, N.Y.) added three kills and had four block assists, passing
Kelli Reynolds for eighth all-time in Post history with 92 career block assists.
Jhoan Agosto Rivera and Anabelle Barinas combined for 23 kills for Georgian Court. The Lions improved to 7-8 and 5-1 in the CACC with the victory.
The Eagles (3-11, 3-3 CACC) return home on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. with a match against Felician.
