Women’s Basketball Suffers Loss At Goldey-Beacom, 68-45

Chance Records Third Consecutive 15 Rebound Game

Box Score

WILMINGTON, Del. – The Post University women's basketball team dropped its second straight game on Saturday afternoon as it fell at Goldey-Beacom, 68-45, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup. Graduate student Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) grabbed 15 rebounds for the third consecutive game and fourth time this season.

Junior Raven Wright-James (Middletown, Conn.) led the Eagles with 12 points to go along with six boards. Junior Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) saw her streak of four straight 20-plus point efforts end as she finished with 11 points. Sophomore Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.) added eight points and five rebounds.

Post (9-11, 7-6 CACC) made three of its first four shots to take an early 6-0 lead at the 17:20 mark. After starting 0-for-7 from the field, Goldey-Beacom (13-8, 10-2 CACC) made three of its next four to pull ahead 10-8 with 12:39 remaining in the first half.

Two three-pointers over a span of four minutes by Wright-James gave the Eagles a 23-20 advantage at the 6:14 mark of the first. Post would not score for the remainder of the half as the Lightning closed out the period on a 12-0 run to take a 32-23 lead at the intermission.

Latham scored the Eagles first six points of the second half as they closed the deficit to five at 34-29 with 16:39 remaining. Goldey-Beacom staged a 16-4 run from there to pull away at 50-33 at the 9:55 mark. A three-pointer by Latham ended the stretch and pull the Eagles within 14, but that would be as close as they would get.

The Lightning's Devonne Richardson recorded a triple-double with 14 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds. Post's 45 points were a season-low. The Eagles have lost the last six to Goldey-Beacom.

Post will be back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Felician. The Eagles fell to the Golden Falcons 68-66 at home on Dec. 19 to snap their nine-game CACC win streak. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
