Volleyball Drops First CACC Game Of The Season

Eagles Fall 3-0 To Holy Family

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University volleyball team fell to Holy Family 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Drubner Center. The scores were 13-25, 20-25, 18-25. It was the Eagles first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss of the season.
 
Senior Kelly Hayes (South Orange, N.J.) led Post with eight kills on the afternoon. Sophomore Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) had 19 assists. Graduate student Vanessa Ramos (Milford, Conn.) chipped in with two service aces and six digs.
 
The Eagles never led in the first set. Junior Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) had a kill to pull Post within two at 6-4. The Tigers staged a 13-3 run to give them their largest lead of the set at 19-7.
 
Two consecutive service aces by Ramos put the Eagles ahead 11-9 and an ace by Slyaktina gave Post its largest lead of the afternoon at 14-11. Holy Family answered with an 11-2 run to take a 22-16 advantage.
 
Post fell behind early in the final set, 9-5. The Eagles fought back to tie the score 16-16, helped by two kills from Wilman. The Tigers closed the match out with a 9-2 run.
 
The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Dominican. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
