HERSHEY, Pa. – The Post University golf team opened up the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional on Monday at the East Course at Hershey Country Club with a score of 316. The Eagles currently sit in a tie for seventh place with Bluefield State and three shots out of fifth and a spot in the NCAA Championship.
Junior
Thomas Rees (Cardiff, Wales) started off the day with a bogey on his first hole, but settled down, eventually paring eight holes in a row to finish with a five-over 76 and a tie for 11
th places.
Sophomore
Ross Earnshaw (York, England) birdied his final hole to score a six-over 77, good for a tie for 14
th. Freshman
Sebastian Noesgaard (Copenhagen, Denmark) was the only Eagle with two birdies on the day and carded an opening-round 78. He sits in a tie for 20
th after 18-holes.
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Year, sophomore
Anthony Netto (Dusseldorf, Germany), is tied for 78
th after shooting an 85. Freshman
Anthony McNamara (Beacon Falls, Conn.) cared a 90 and is tied for 99
th.
CACC Champion, Wilmington, sits in first place after an opening-round 301, six strokes ahead of Indiana (Pa.) (307). UMass-Lowell (310), St. Thomas Aquinas (312), and Concord (313) round out the top-five. Jordan Eck of California (Pa.) leads individual after carding a 72 in round one.
The Eagles tee off round two tomorrow beginning at noon.
