Post University Alumnae Appointed To Eagles’ Staff

WATERBURY, Conn. – Post University alumnae Mallorie Michalak was named assistant coach of the women's lacrosse program on Thursday it was announced by head coach Jill Kowalik. Michalak completed her playing career with the Eagles following the 2012 season and was named Second Team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). She is the program's all-time leader in points, goals, assists, ground balls and caused turnovers.

“Mallorie's experience as a former student-athlete at Post University is going to really help with recruiting,” Kowalik said. “She will have insight on what type of student-athletes will be a great fit for our program and the University. She is really excited to have the opportunity to continue to help grow our program, and bring it to the next level."

In addition to the conference lead in ground balls (53) and caused turnovers (33), Michalak was ranked sixth nationally in caused turnovers per game and 11th in the country in ground balls per contest. She posted 2.2 caused turnovers per game and averaged 3.53 ground balls per outing.

A three-year letterwinner with Post, she ranked second on the team in goals and points in her final two seasons with the squad. She also led the team in ground balls during the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Michalak has been with the Post University women's lacrosse team since its inception in 2010.

“I'm excited to stay on board with the women's lacrosse program,” Michalak said. “I had the opportunity to join the team three years ago when the program started. Over the past three years our team has improved tremendously, I'd like to help continue that progress and get us to where we want to be.”
