Sprint Football Takes Part In Great Strides Walk To Cure Cystic Fibrosis

Nine Student-Athletes And Head Coach Michael Mannetti Support Team Ryan’s Faith At Local Event

WATERBURY, Conn. – Nine members of the Post University sprint football team and head coach Michael Mannetti participated in the Great Strides Walk To Cure Cystic Fibrosis at Ballantine Park in Southbury over the weekend. The Eagles walked 3.6 miles in support of Team Ryan's Faith at the event.

The nine members of the squad who were present at the walk included Dan Awwad (Waterbury, Conn.), David Boyle (Waterbury, Conn.), Anthony Jamele (Terryville, Conn.), Jashua Guadalupe (New Britain, Conn.), Christopher Lopez (Waterbury, Conn.), Chris Masayda (Watertown, Conn.), Brendan McWeeney (Watertown, Conn.), Jacob Pogodzienski (Woodbury, Conn.) and Matt Santos (Waterbury, Conn.).

The Eagles walked in support of 16-year old Ryan Trochsler, a ninth-grade student at Waterbury Arts Magnet School. Trochsler was awarded a Post sprint football jersey and was tabbed to be an honorary captain at one of the squad's home football games during the 2012 season.

“We were honored to support Team Ryan's Faith at the walk over weekend,” Mannetti said. “These events are particularly important to our program because I want our student-athletes to see what people in our community have to endure on a daily basis. In addition to supporting a worthy cause, we want our student-athletes to understand that their opportunities should not be taken for granted.”
